The Psycho-Spiritual Institute of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation held a 4-day Basic Course in Psycho-Trauma Healing Skills for the Pastors and Leaders of the Realm of Glory International Churches. The workshop which held from Tuesday 3rd of May to Friday 6th of May, 2022 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Foundation had in attendance over 60 participants who were taught the basics of psycho-trauma healing, equipping them with skills to perform psychological first aid, trauma management, record-keeping, referrals and more. The teaching faculty of the course included the Executive Director of the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Rev. Fr. (Dr) George Ehusani; the Abuja Centre Director of the Psycho-Spiritual Institute, Rev. Fr. (Dr) Richard Ehusani; the President of the African Psychological Association, Prof. Andrew Zamani and the HOD of the Department of Psychology of Nasarawa State University, Dr. Emmanuel Alhassan. Other course facilitators were Dr. Chuma Igbokwe, Mrs. Florence Nwachukwu, Mrs. Felicia Ogwuche and Mr. Robinson Okeke.
The course successfully fused psychology with spirituality, enabling the course participants to use both aspects of human existence hand-in-hand in helping with their counselling and spiritual direction activities in their various roles as pastors and church leaders. Areas covered during the course include Resilience, Forgiveness, Psychological First Aid, Record-Keeping, Counselling Practice, Music Therapy, Creative Art Therapy, among others.
Responding at the end of the course, participants expressed their delight at being able to attend the course and gain all the knowledge imparted. Many of the participants reported finding healing during the course and were returning as better humans than they were before they came.
The Psycho-Spiritual Institute of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation has been organising the Basic Course in Psycho-Trauma Healing for up to eight years and has trained about a thousand course participants from all parts of Nigeria and in various professions.
