The Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, was at the Lux Terra Leadership Foundation on Thursday the 1st of July, 2021 to visit the participants of our training of religious and community leaders on the prevention of violence against women and girls in Nigeria.
The Minister was received by the Executive Director of the foundation, Rev Fr George Ehusani and other members of staff of the foundation. Addressing the training participants, Dame Tallen appreciated them for the time and efforts they have invested in attending the training programme and their interest in ensuring a better life for women and girls in Nigeria. She further charged them to go all out in tackling the violence against women and children which is made manifest in so many forms within the society. She acknowledged how tough the task is, but also noted how imperative it is that the task be done.
Responding, the representatives of the participants appreciated the Minister for coming to visit them and assured her that the visit has further inspired them to do very well in preventing violence against women and girls in the society. They committed to go all out with dedication to ensure that all they are learning during the training are put to good use in order to make the society better for women and girls, and indeed for all.
Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, for a period of 20 days, trained 20 participants each from Sokoto and Adamawa states on ways to prevent violence against women and children in Nigeria, and to themselves become trainers who pass on the knowledge acquired to others who can then put them to good use to achieve the ultimate goal of the training programme. The programme has so far exposed the participants to various modules such as human rights, inter and intra-faith dialogues, strategic communication, Christianity and the advancement of the cause of women and girls, among others.
