VOICES OF CHANGE: LUX TERRA TRAINED ADVOCATES COMBAT SGBV

Participants at the series of workshops organised by Lux Terra for the elimination of sexual and gender-based violence (ESGBV) are leaving no stones unturned as Lux Terra Trained Advocates in combating SGBV in Nigeria.

In their efforts to eliminate SGBV, these Lux Terra Trained Advocates, comprising pastors, priests, religious leaders, and members of different Christian communities from different Nigerian States, have begun the promotion of zero tolerance for SGBV through road walks, social media sensitisation, awareness campaigns in schools, communities, and among church groups. Preaching of sermons that denounce SGBV as an evil to defeat and granting of radio and television interviews with ESGBV as the end goal are other strategies in the advocacy arsenal of some of these advocates.

These ongoing campaigns for eliminating SGBV are spread across 25 Nigerian States of Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Delta, Edo, Enugu, Ekiti, FCT, Nasarawa, Gombe, Imo, Kogi, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, and Taraba.

The 123 Lux Terra Trained Advocates executing these ESGBV campaign activities were under 5th-8th cohorts of participants at the series of Lux Terra’s ESGBV workshops organised for Christian Stakeholders. Below are a few pictures that show their campaign activities and tell their advocacy stories:
