LUX TERRA LEADERSHIP FOUNDATION PARTICIPATES IN BEHAVIOURAL CHANGE CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION 2023

The Lux Terra Leadership Foundation on Wednesday the 15th of November, 2023 joined other Behavioural Change Cohort Members of the MacArthur Foundation funded grantees to participate at the 2023 Behavioural Change Conference and Exhibition event themed, “Fostering A Corruption-free Nigeria.”

The conference served as an avenue for Lux Terra and other cohort members comprising Akin Fadeyi Foundation, Policy Innovation Centre of the National Economic Summit Group, Equal Access International, StepUp Nigeria, Arewa 24, Griot Studios, Moving Image Limited, Anti-corruption Academy of Nigeria, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research, Alhabibiyyah Islamic Society and Palace of Priests Assembly to showcase their works, tell their success stories so far, and find ways to synergise in the fight against corruption and the promotion of a culture integrity in Nigeria. This cohort of grantees are working using behavioural change approaches in their respective campaigns for integrity in Nigeria.

In attendance at the conference were critical stakeholders in the fight against corruption such as the outgoing Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, Africa Director of the MacArthur Foundation, Dr. Kole Shettima,Country Director UNODC, Oliver Stolpe who was represented by Lilian Ekeanyanwu, Head, Technical Unit on Governace and Anti Corruption Reforms – TUGAR, among others. 

The conference was a coalesce of keynote addresses, a poetry presentation against corruption, panel discussions on Promoting Sustainable Behavioural Patterns to Combat Corruption: Global Insights and Local Best Practices; Stories of Change: Successful  Anti-Corruption Programs and Interventions; The future of Behavioural Interventions and Anti-Corruption Efforts in Nigeria: Exploring Opportunities and Prospects; The Role of Civic Education and Citizen Engagement in Advancing Anti-Corruption, Accountability, and Good Governance in Nigeria; among other activities.  Also on display at the conference were Lux Terra’s resource materials on Integrity which  were freely distributed to attendees who visited its exhibition booth.

Lux Terra’s faith-based and behavioural change approaches for combating corruption in Nigeria is evidenced in its campaign for greater integrity in Nigeria. This is a campaign that is executed in selected Nigerian secondary schools, among Christian and Islamic religious communities, and serving NYSC members. The approaches employed by the foundation include the use of lectures, workshops, sensitisation programmes, campaign materials in print, audio and video formats, pledges and commitments, and other mechanisms to help people develop a changed attitude and begin to embrace the values of honesty, integrity and accountability.
