Lux Terra Leadership Foundation continued its nationwide campaign for the Elimination of SGBV in Nigeria. After a series of participatory training of Christian and Community Stakeholders on mechanisms for the elimination of SGBV, the campaign is being intensified across the country, with the campaign train moving from Nasarawa to Kogi, Akwa Ibom to Kano, Lagos to Ogun, Bauchi to Borno States. In collaboration with the Lux Terra ESGBV Advocates in the various states across the country, we are reaching and sensitizing various stakeholders on the prevalence of SGBV and supporting them to develop strategies and mechanisms for eliminating the menace. The Stakeholders include members of Academic and School Communities, Churches and Institutional and Community Heads as well as members of the public. The campaign exercises range from Public Sensitizations, In-person Trainings, Radio and Television Shows, Focus Group Interactions, Courtesy Visits and massive dissemination of Information, Education and Communication Materials across the states.
Our campaign is a call to all Nigerians, men and women, boys and girls, young and old, to take a firm stand and say NO to SGBV and all its manifestations and commit to doing all that is possible to ensure that we eliminate the scourge from families, Institutions and places of worship, and the communities at large. We are challenging everyone to do what they can within their spheres of influence control to address the menace.
At the various sensitization activities held in the states between May 1st and August 30th, new advocates for the elimination of SGBV have emerged and they have made commitments to desist from any act of SGBV, speak up for those who are violated in any way, and support all just cause and initiatives that seek to prevent and eliminate the scourge in their communities to ensure that our families, communities and places of worship become safe spaces for all everyone; particularly women and children, to thrive.
