Lux Terra Leadership Foundation has held another workshop, the third in a series, with a cohort of members of the Madarasatul Adabi Wa Izharul Islam (MAWIS) community, Minna, Niger State. The workshop which took place at the Lux Terra Complex from Tuesday 12th to Wednesday 14th of September, 2023, was in continuation of the Foundation’s Campaign for Greater Integrity in Nigeria. The workshop was executed by Lux Terra Leadership Foundation in conjunction with the Islamic Education Trust as part of their joint effort to entrench integrity in Nigeria using religious networks and resources. The workshop presented the opportunity for the facilitators and participants to carry out an assessment of the work done so far and the impacts their efforts are having within their spheres of influence and control. While the gains recorded so far were discussed and celebrated, the challenges encountered were also dissected in order to chart a path forward. Using Islamic beliefs, teachings and writings, the sessions held during the workshop covered areas such as the role of Muslims in nation-building, civic responsibilities of Muslims under Nigerian laws and policies, and mechanisms for strategically engaging the world through effective communication, advocacy, and community action among others. The sessions were in the forms of classroom lectures, discussion sessions and group activities. Participants had the opportunity to learn, relearn, and unlearn what it requires to be upright and patriotic citizens of Nigeria as well as truly religious and pious Muslims. Participants highlighted how impactful the last three years of the integrity campaign had been to them and how they intend to further the campaign. The workshop came to a close with participants renewing their commitment to honest living as contained in the Integrity Pledge, committing to continue to uphold the values of honesty, integrity and holiness in whatever they do and wherever they find themselves. The workshop with members of the Madarasatul Adabi Wa Izharul Islam (MAWIS) community is one of the components of the Lux Terra Campaign for Greater Integrity in Nigeria which is carried out with the support of the MacArthur Foundation.
