LUX TERRA INTENSIFIES CAMPAIGN AGAINST SEXUAL AND GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

The Lux Terra Leadership Foundation has intensified its campaign against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) throughout the months of November and December, with major activities aligning with the global 16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence.

As part of this year’s global observance, functionaries of Lux Terra participated in a webinar titled “From Screens to Safety: Tackling Cyberbullying and Digital Harassment Against Women and Girls.” The session highlighted the growing cases of online abuse targeted at women, especially female journalist, while equipping participants with practical digital security skills, responsible online engagement strategies, and insights on strengthening women’s leadership in digital spaces.

Rev. Fr. George Ehusani, together with functionaries or Lux Terra as well as representatives of the Centers of Excellence inaugurated earlier in the year, put out short advocacy messages for broadcast across social media platforms. These messages address various forms of sexual and gender-based violence while calling on communities to speak up, reject abuse, and protect the vulnerable.

The 2025 global 16 Days of Activism, beginning (November 25 to December 10, 2025) with the theme “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” features a dedicated episode of Reflections with Fr. George Ehusani, along with short video messages from Lux Terra functionaries focusing on different forms of digital violence and online harassment such as impersonation, image-based abuse, psychological attacks, and coordinated online trolling while offering actionable tools for responding to digital violence.

Other activities to mark the 16 Days of Activism includes visits to a cross section of secondary schools in Abuja to educate students on digital forms of abuse and equip them with knowledge on how to stay safe.
